Vacation idea for Itlay
Sorry I haven't been posting much recently. I've been too busy with work to think about vacation!
But, here's a plan I came up with a while ago after my first trip to Italy. My wife and I went to Italy for our honeymoon and spent a month in Rome, a month in Assissi, and got to Perugia, Florence, Venice, Naples, and Capri.
Anyway I was thinking for next time either go to Sardignia for a month and study Italian and the cool ruins that are supposed to be there or:
4 days Rome, 1 day Pisa, 4 days Florence, 1 day Bologna, 1 day Modena, 3 days Milan, 3 days Venice, 1 day Rome (I hate rushing for flights) for a total of 18 days in Italy. Just beware the summer crowds (I went in September/November 2001 and it was crowded...)

Hey there have you considered going to this site for Travel to Texas? www.traveltex.com. It has SO much information there on driving tours, events, lodging, etc.
Posted by: Tara Hall at May 5, 2004 9:06 PMIt looks like an interesing site. I've never actually been to Texas, but maybe this is my year. What's the best natural attraction in Texas? I don't want to see oil wells, I want to see nature.
Posted by: James Trotta at May 8, 2004 7:52 PMWhat about Big Bend National Park or the Famous Marfa Lights? Or better yet, Texas has an awesome music festival scene.
Posted by: T Hall at May 27, 2004 8:17 AMwell...the majority of people think that Italy is only about Rome, Florence, Venice, Pisa. The southest place they go is usually Naples, if they decide to go a bit far.
I know those places are beautiful, I love Rome myself so much, but if you have been there already try to see other sites.
I live in Sicily and I am so sorry that my land is not as sponsored as the rest of Italy is.
Sicily is a place to discover, full of important historical sites and natural landscapes. The biggest cities (Palermo, Catania, Siracusa) have a great nightlife. Food is so various and so good that you won't have the time to try everything. There is also the biggest volcano in Europe: mamma Etna as we call it.it's a real on-the road travel.
But you got to be prepared to lose your patience sometimes as, unfortunately, things don't work well as in the north of Italy (transport and turistic information for example).

Happy Birthday!
Sleep in – Breakfast in bed!
Today’s theme is “when in Rome, do as the Romans!” We will go to where they shop, eat and drink. We make our way via subway to Piazza Navona.
Lunch will be light at a little panificio (bakery) at Via del Governo Vecchio, 29,
This long, theatrical thoroughfare, curved gently at one end and neatly squared at the other with three exuberant fountains down the midline, is a baroque showcase. Its perfect shape actually derives from its foundation: a first-century stadium built by Emperor Domitian.
Next we will try and follow Via dei Baullari to the Campo de' Fiori, as delightful in its clutter and eclecticism as is Navona in its spacious harmony.
After a brief detour down the vine-covered Via Giulia (another antique-hunter's paradise), we cross the Tiber river on the Ponte Sisto and enter Trastevere, one of Rome's most delightful walking neighborhoods. Our ultimate goal is the venerable basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere, with its early Christian remains and splendid mosaics. But we may well find the spider web of alleyways around the church, filled with artisans' workshops and sleek cafés, just as intriguing and we may never make it! Oh well! Back to the Hotel for a nap and rest up for this evening’s dinner!
Birthday and Anniversary dinner.
Dinner tonight is on Tiber Island, surrounded by the rushing river, site of one of Rome's earliest settlements and, more important, of Sora Lella restaurant. After dinner it’s a short walk to the Trestavere area of town, where there is plenty of nightlife – party!
