Using JAL frequent flyer miles

JAL miles expire after two years so my wife and I needed to make sure we used ours. The nice thing is that you can spend the miles long before your flight. For example, our miles would have expired by January 15th, 2005, but we bought our tickets and spent our miles a while back. So on January 15th we'll be flying business class for the first time. Naturally, I'll let you know how it goes...

I still like JAL, but remember that it's not easy to use your frequent flyer miles last minute.

Re: Charleston, SC

Didn't see anything on Charleston, SC and thought I would be the first in the blog. My wife and I visit Charleston frequently as it's only a few hours down the road. We've done everything possible when it comes to touristy stuff.

Last weekend we came across what turned out to be the highlight of our visit - "The Dark Side of Charleston". It is a walking tour that tells the real deal on Charleston history - bootleggers, brothels, scandals, murders, etc. Our guide, John LaVerne, was EXCELLENT!! He's been a tour guide for like 15 years and knows Charleston inside and out. I just called their office and was notified they're changing the name of the company next week to "BULLDOG TOURS". The offer several tours besides the Dark Side of Charleston - several ghost tours including the Charleston Ghost & Graveyard Walking Tour. Plan to do those next visit.

Another great find is the Boathouse Restaurant on East Bay St. Awesome seafood and great selection of wine.

Also, don't miss sunrise or sunset on The Battery (big park at the end of Charleston). The nicest houses I've ever seen. Hope to one day move to Charleston once the kids get out of school.

Hope this helps.
