Is the US trying too hard to prevent us from traveling to Cuba?

The US claims that they are keeping money out of the hands of Fidel Castro's oppressive government, but I feel that the Cuban travel ban limits my personal freedom. I believe that through learning about other cultures we can understand other people. Through understanding we can reduce prejudice and become more open-minded.

Now the US is banning its citizens from dealing with foreign travel agencies that can arrange vacations to Cuba:

How does supporting a repressive regime broaden our horizons? All you are doing is giving Castro the money he needs to subjucate his people and launch attacks on the US. This is no different than giving your money to a terrorist organization.

That is ridiculous, KAC, Castro is an old man. Cuba would be delighted if you would visit. I have friends who live there and they are hungry for tourists and would welcome anyone who decided to come there. Terrorists? Don't make me laugh!

Cuba is an island with many people who need our tourism dollars. What about another trip to Florida? No thanks, I'd rather see Cuba.

Fact is, I don't know where my tourism money would end up. I would like to go talk to Cubans and hear what they ahve to say... I mean George Bush can say all the money will go to Castro, but how do I know that? Do I believe everything Bush says? And I think I know people. I give a person money, that person wants to keep the money or spend it, not give it to the government...
