US citizens will need passports...

The Seattle Times writes that to reenter the US after visiting Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, the Bahmas, etc. US citizens will need a passport by 2008:

But from Dec. 31, 2007, passports or their equivalent would be the only documents accepted under the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, the officials said.

Under a proposed timetable that will be formalized later this year after a public review period, the passport rule will be imposed on air and sea travel to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda and Central and South America Dec. 31, 2005. It will be extended to Canada and Mexico Dec. 31, 2006.

I just clicked on the link to get U.S. Passport forms. This is outrageous! WWW.formbuy.com is charging $19.95 for passport and other forms that consumers can download for FREE at other websites. Try www.state.gov and www.uscis.gov for starters!

Never pay for passport applications as the second commenter here said. Getting a passport is not all that hard compared to getting the government to do other things...
