Credit card warning

I like to use Discover for travel purchases because the cash back is nice on a big purchase like airline tickets and the like. However there is at least one case where Discover failed a customer seeking a refund when hotel reservations were canceled due to a hurricane.

The travel trouble shooter published in the Miami Herald is advising one person with a problem to dump Discover and get a new credit card because "Discover let you down by not standing behind a perfectly legitimate dispute".

Other culprits are Travelocity and Ocean Pointe Suites in Key Largo although the troubleshooter had better luck convincing Travelocity to take care of things that the customer did.

Hello I also have a problem with a "credit" account. I purchased my Dell Computer and had a problem with the CPU (it had to be returned) I asked the sales person when "my clock would begin ticking on the interest rate since I was paying it off in one check he said not to worry. When I sent in the dollar amount requested the third months statement, they sent me a bill the next month on interest on a zero balance account. I called and they offered to cut the amount due in half.... I refused because I believe I do not owe them anything. Now I've received another billing with interest on interest on my zero account balance, I can't seem to win... should I just bite the bullet on this, I have excellent credit and they seem determined to ruin mine even though I've paid for the system. Thanks for the advise. Kathleen Egan in Florida fuming but what can I do.....

You won't have good credit for long if you don't take care of this. I would just pay, but some people would probably hire a lawyer or something. If it's you against the credit card company, I'm not betting on you...
