Stupid mistake
I know it's better to err on the side of caution, but the U.S. Transportation Security Administration ought to feel pretty stupid after forcing a Korean Air flight bound for San Francsico to land in Japan so that it could question a passenger on its no-fly list. What happened was that someone made a big mistake:
"The man was the person on the no-fly list but he should not have been on it," the official said, but he did not offer details as to why the man should not have been on the list.Posted by James Trotta at June 2, 2005 1:18 AM
I know the feeling: sometimes officials are not so official and they make mistakes. Best plan should be to have proof.
Posted by: Christine Sindelar at June 2, 2005 10:21 PMPerhaps the authorities would like to tell us their "Air Egypt" story once again. But this time what they really think happened. Remember the one that nose dived into the Atlantic after leaving New York? Now doesn't that ring a bell - a somebody supposedly grabbed the controls and led the plane into its death dive. Didn't the authorities swear the co-pilot did it while the Egyptian side swore to his loyalty and reasons for his wanting to live?
Umm... Sounds like one side was right after all. But which, is the question. Oh I remember a similar event taking place a couple of years or so after that. In fact four similar events in one day.
Was Air Egypt the precurser to the events that forever changed the way Americans see themselves in the world? And did the authorities realise that somebody had dropped his guard. Umm... I wonder.
I would rather have people delayed by even days, than see another 911, but that's just me, after all it is supposed to be all about ME, right?

In this case, the guy on the list was detained but released .He was arrested last week in Lodi CA for plotting to blow a supermarket.
Sounds like he deserved to be arrested. What was he thinking? Usually, there are people inside the supermarket and some may have children.
