Sydney, Bali

Sydney has been voted the world’s best city destination for the eighth year in a row in Travel and Leisure magazine’s annual readers’ survey, which also selected Bali as the top island. It was a fourth successive triumph for Bali, which remained the top island destination, ahead of Santorini in Italy and the Hawaiian Islands of Kauai and Maui.

Sydney beat out the Thai capital Bangkok, as well as Rome and Florence. Another Thai city, Chiang Mai, was voted the fifth best city. I can boast that I've been to Rome, Florence, and Bangkok (which is the order I'd rate them in by the way). I still have to get to Sydney and Ching Mai.

The Four Seasons Resort at Sayan in Bali was voted the world’s best hotel ahead of the Singita Private Game Reserve, in Sabi Sands South Africa. The Asia-Pacific region dominated the best international airline category, taking eight of the top 10 places with Singapore Airlines in the number one slot.

The results of the survey will be published in the August issue of Travel and Leisure, which is published by American Express Publishing Corp.

Rome, Florence, and Bangkok all have their distinctive appeal and charm that makes visiting these cities a unique experience. The same can be said about Sydney. It has the same buzz as walking in Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. It definitely has more than its share of sights and flavours to immerse in. And of course, visiting Sydney will embrace you with the "no worries" attitude the land down under radiates with. I had the chance to stay there a week late this May and was definitely a great trip. Sad to say, like every big city, there's always a chance for you to get ripped off by shady fellows preying on tourists, or just flat-out be pickpocketed, like what happened with one of our companions, in the middle of George Street. Oh well, to those planning to drop by Sydney, i trust the city will treat you kindly, but it always pays to be extra careful with your pockets and bags.

A gentle geographical correction, Santorini is not part of Italy, however it is a beautiful part of Greece.

Cape Town, South Africa

Sucks!!! Really.. not just saying that due to any bad experience or anything like that.

The facts..Every household has some sort of human security guard and security fences 10 feet tall. Every business has bars and gates and locks and you have to be buzzed in. There is no wondering in a shop... they have surveillance and you are checked before you can enter.

I dont know about you or anyone else but I really have to need something REAL.. bad to go through all that before going in a shop to just browse around..

This place is caos and the South African Tourism board is trying like hell to cover up the real problems and dangers here. In fact they do cover it up. Just a few weeks back an Asian girl was stabbed and robbed while climbing up Table Mountain.. which is full of tourists and locals daily.. and the Tourism board did all but put gold lips on that girls ass and her governments for that matter.

Look, simply walking down the street in the day is like playing dodge ball. You are dodging the begging kids that are ripping you off while you are walking.. and the glue sniffers that are holding knives up to you and the people selling home made crap out of cans and the people selling this Magazine... It is absolute madness and all the shops have locked gates and bars so you have no quick refuge. You need to know exactly where you are going at all times and just focus and get there.
Forget strolling around unless you are just a stupid tourist.

I have not been robbed but I've witnessed 2 robberies in broad daylight, both with knives.
I have witnessed with my own eyes all that I am saying here.

The whites have their fists on top of the black people here. The blacks are angry, hungry, cold, and are sick of having to shit in the streets.

There are places and sooooooo many I cannot even count where there is no running water, no sewage, no heat, no air. The streets flood when it rains and these people are becoming demented.

While the whites sit across the highway and sip their cocktails under umbrellas while being protected by armed security guards.

I'm from the southern states of Ameria and I witnessed as a child the prejudice and I sat for the firt time in a room with a black person when I was in 5th grade. I was 9 and the year was 1969. Seen it, done it, bought the t-shirt and I'm WHITE.....

The whites here rationalize so much to make themselves right that I literally almost bite off my own tongue at times.

I was to stay and live and work here but I will not participate in this white economy. When this country returns to the Black Nation that it was and should be, then I will bring my skill sets and my money.

For the 2nd time in my life, I'm ashamed to be white.
