Cabo Jazz Escape 2006 dates
I love jazz. I loved the Ottawa Jazz Festival that I went to in the summer of 2004 and I’ve been wondering when I’ll have the chance to hit another jazz fest.
I found some information on the Cabo San Lucas three-day jazz festival, Cabo Jazz Escape from December 1-3 2006.
I've seen jazz in America and Canada, why not Mexico? Normally I’d link the official website, but http://www.cabojazzescape.com/ seems to be down at the moment. I suppose you can try it tomorrow.
Then I found some information on Cabo San Lucas history. It seems that one of Cabo's big draws is fishing. I don't fish. If you do, Cabo is good for Marlin, Dorado, and Tuna fishing.
That Cabo history was a sub page of this Cabo San Lucas vacation rental site. I saw 2 bedroom places going from 150/night to 250/night. Prices seem to go up around Dec. 19th, but Cabo Jazz Escape would be over by then…
I figure, the idea is to hit a few beaches, listen to some jazz, do some snorkeling, maybe take the wife to one of the night clubs and pretend to be young for a night...

Be careful in cabo. DON'T stay at the cabo real hotel! They tried to r@pe my girlfriend by putting something in her drink and I found her bloody in the room. The hotel would not help. It was HORRIBLE!

I am very sorry to hear that your girlfriend and you had that terrible misfortune in Cabo. I hope she's doing better, and is able to move on with her life.
I worked for an airline with numerous Mexico flights and just wanted to state that, one needs to be careful wherever you travel. Have you heard the recent stories about the deaths on cruise ships.
Folks, just be careful wherever you go, and that includes travel within the U.S.

I will avoid that hotel. I'm not sure when I'll check out that jazz abnd, but thanks for the tip. Shag, you are right - be careful everywhere. Thanks you for the comments everyone!
Posted by: James Trotta at March 17, 2006 11:43 PMIt is unfortunate that anyone would have such a negative experience while trying to make positive memories at 'fun' destinations. To often we let our guard down because we are trying to have fun and we say "This could never happen to us", so be alert and cognizant of your surroundings wherever you are.
Cabo is great! Las Ventanas al Paraiso is a great Resort and is a part of the Rosewood famiy of Hotels & Resorts ie;Hotel Crescent Court and The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas,Tx. You can visit the property for their excellent services such as thier world renown Spa if you can't afford their nightly rates.
Posted by: Wilda at March 18, 2006 11:01 AMSorry to hear about the bad time in Cabo. Just some more anecdotal info. I traveled 3 wks. throughout Mexico, alone in the 90s and had no problems. Never drank at any fancy hotel bars either. The most expensive room I had was in Taxco, I think my split was $12. Most places I stayed were around $5. No tv or phone but clean and safe. I had a great time, even when my train was stopped due to a mudslide on the tracks. A local took me and some other "gueros" on a hike to where we could catch a bus. Anyhow, however you travel Mexico is beautiful. Jazz fest in Cabo sounds great, now I just have to find a decent cheap alojada in one of those lonely planet guides. Why pay for carpeting and tv when Im spending the day at the beach anyway?
Posted by: Rebecca at March 19, 2006 11:29 AMYes, I could do without the TV as well...
