Traveling with small packs

Has anyone tried packing with space bags? I haven't, but it seems like they can really save you a lot of space and I love traveling without bulky packs.

Now I'm just thinking out load here (not really - I have given it a little thought), but if I took this large space bag that holds 10-12 sweaters and shrinks storage space up to 75%, and used it on my vacation clothes wouldn't that work out well?

The only potential problem I see is packing up at the end of your vacation. You need a vacuum with hose to evacuate the air. I suppose most hotels would have something if you could track down room service.

I suppose it would make more sense to use these travel space saver bags. I guess since you roll them up you don't need a vacuum. This package says it has 2 Carry On Size (13.5 Inches x 19.5 Inches - Holds 2 Blouses, 1 Jacket, 1 Sweater) and 1 Suitcase Size (18 Inches x 22.5 Inches - Holds 2 Shirts, 2 Sweaters, 1 Jacket).

Has anyone tried these space bags before? How well do they work?

Last year my wife , myself and our youngest daughter went to China on a 14 day Tour and we used the roll up savers you are talking about. Not only did they save us space both going and coming home but the clothes stayed wrinkle free
as well. In fact we are going to Japan this year and have already bought more for my son and his wife to use when they go with us. Great product!
Only wish I had invented them!

My boyfriend and I used these on our trip to New Zealand and they worked great. They certainly gave us more room when packing and the contents of our suitcases were protected once we turned our bags over to the airline. We had notices that 2 of our 3 bags were opened, which we expected since we were on an international flight but everything was protected and still wrinkle free!! I plan on purchasing more and using them every time we travel.

Why pay for those expensive bags when the 2 gallon Ziplock bags work just as well. Have used them for years. Just pack them and squeeze out the air and you are set to go.

I have used both space bags & 2 gallon Ziplock bags and I have to say that I liked the Ziplock bags better for small things (Underwear, singlets, etc) and larger space bags for my actual clothes. Customs loves them too b/c they can see everything in your bag & it takes them less time to look at everything.
But the abosolutely best use for them is your swimsuits, you can take that last minute swim before your flight and then throw the togs in a plastic bag and go.

I've been using those space bag things for the last 10 years and they're great. But make sure to bring along a small roll of duct tape, because they're useless if they get punctured.

I've been using the extra large Hefty Slider Jumbo(2.5 gallon) bags during our last 6 overseas trips. I lay out our dirty laundry flat. Put it in a bag, then sit on the bag to get out all the air. The laundry takes up much less space, and when I get home - voilą - all ready to take to the laundry room and I don't have to spend time separating the dirty and clean stuff. I've noticed however that the zippers on the last batch of Hefty bags I purchased will not stay shut so I'm about to try this with another brand.

My wife and I bought one of these and NEVER again.
The zipper part broke and we can't fix it so it is NOT re-usable as they claim. I figure it was just a waste of money.

I have tried the travel space saver bags and I agree with Dennis. The zipper broke apart and I have a hard time rolling up the bag and trying to get the air out. I'll try 2.5 gallon bags on my next trip, or have a strong person to roll the travel bags. Next time I will travel with my husband and have him roll.

I've used both types, zip-loc and the roll-ups. When using zip-locs, sit on them to squeeze out the air.
the only problem with these bags is you can fit more in your suitcase thus increasing the weight.

Space bags work great, butttt 10 lbs of stuff still weighs 10 lbs even if its compressed..I just finished paying US Air $50.00 per bag for 2 overweight bags because we could get soooo much more in the bag..
