My new Las Vegas vacation & hotel review site.
I've written about Las Vegas a few times before, but a friend of mine recently wanted to get rid of his Las Vegas vacation site. To make a long story short, it's no my Las Vegas vacation site so I'm fixing it up.
I turned it into a blog so that people can leave comments and so far the comments have been pretty interesting. I had been kind of fascinated by the free Circus Circus performance and thought about staying in the hotel. Then readers left some negative reviews of the Circu Circus hotel so I probably won't be staying there. The Riviera Hotel also got a nasty comment.
I think it's funny how New Yorkers pride themselves on having the best pizza in America and one commenter said that New York New York has the best pizza in Vegas. I guess it's no surprise that the Hard Rock is where to party.
Anyway, if you've ever been to Vegas please leave a review of the hotel you stayed in on my new Las Vegas vacation site. I also need more articles on Vegas vacations for the site. If you like writing, contact me at jtrotta@gmail.com.

I stayed at the New Frontier and it sucked! The hotel is old and the "non-smoking" rooms smelled like smoke! The hallways smelled musty! The Stratosphere was an excellent value, the shopping mall inside was convenient, especially the McDonald's where my husband got breakfast for us every morning for a week.It did not hurt our budget at all. We have 3 kids. I have stayed at the Flamingo Hilton but no, I will be returning to the Stratosphere soon although the only "inconvenience is that it is at the "end" of the strip.
Posted by: Julie at May 13, 2006 7:08 AMWe stayed at the Aladdin and loved it.
The rooms are a good size and the bathroom is wonderful. It had a whirlpool tub and a separate shower.
Posted by: denise at May 13, 2006 10:59 AMI have stayed at several hotels on the Strip and Mandalay Bay is bar none my top pick. It is very clean and the rooms are spacious. The food is alos great at most of the restaurants. It's location is not in the heart of the action, but they do have a tram that takes you to Luxor and Excalibur. From there you can easily go anywhere. Try to upgrade to a suite and you will be glad you did.
Posted by: maria at May 13, 2006 12:43 PMwe stayed at the paris hotel which is connected to ballys I highly recommend it. The rooms are huge and have lots of space. Staff is friendly and very professional make sure to visit the Eifel Tower, just don't look down while going up!
Posted by: arturo at May 13, 2006 1:03 PMI stayed at the Belagio. I probably spoiled myself because I don't think I would want to stay anywhere else. There is a lot to do and see. The lobby, the ceilings and the gardens are spectcular. I would definitely stay there again.

The lobby, the ceilings and the gardens are spectcular. I would definitely stay there again. If you do stay there you MUST get a room facing that fountains so that you can sit in your room and listen to the music as the fountains go off. You can also see the strip from there and all the people. Breathtaking!!!!
Posted by: Carol at May 14, 2006 1:50 AMI've stayed at the Excaliber and at the Belagio on my last two trips to Vegas. The Belagio is THE spot to stay if you wish to pamper yourself. Everyone there is wonderful and treats you like royalty. Rooms were amazing, clean and it's the only hotel I stayed at where the bed was better than the one I had at home! The Excaliber is a great value and we have no complaints about saying there. We spent one very unpleasant night at Circus Circus. All I can say is never again. I felt like a needed a bath just after walking in the door!
Posted by: Jennifer at May 14, 2006 4:20 AMWe spent 2 nights at the Sahara and one at the South Coast. This was our first stay in Vegas. We found the Sahara past its prime and while the food was cheap and the rates ok, there was no comparison to the South Coast. Food was A-1 and service and accomodations well above average
Posted by: Ed Anderson at May 14, 2006 10:25 AMMy wife and I always stay off the strip at Palace Station. The resturants are great the casino is first class they shuttle you downtown for free and the rates are very good.
Posted by: Bill Fullem at May 14, 2006 12:05 PMI have stayed at many hotels in Vegas;MGM,Excalibur,Circus Circus,New York New York and the Luxor just to name a few. The best place that I found was the Golden Nugget downtown, it is the best kept secret in Vegas; The rooms were spacious and clean, the food was great,the gaming was exciting and getting to the strip was a breeze. The entertainment on Freemont Street was great something is always going on and most of it is free. The Staff and floorworkers were helpful and very friendly;
Posted by: Carla at May 14, 2006 1:01 PMIf you are looking for a low price but nice place, check out the Tuscany. It is a block behind Ballys, their casino sucks, don't eat in the restaurant but the room was clean and bigger than some of the apartments I have lived in.
Posted by: Jim Bellomo at May 14, 2006 1:28 PMStayed at the Riveria.worst hotel I have stayed in.Food terriable and restrooms unbearable.
Posted by: david harris at May 15, 2006 2:59 AMWe like staying at Luxor. Easy access in and out of town and nice rooms for the price. By the way, when booking be sure to check rates at travelzoo.com which are usually lower.
Posted by: Ham Radio at May 15, 2006 3:02 AMmy husband and i always stay at the silverton,it is off the strip which makes for easy accsess, plenty of parking, excellent room rates, out of this world suites which you pay the same as a regular room on the strip, great entertain ment like the hootie and the blowfish lounge, the mermaid bar, excellent food and to top it all off the bass pro shop is connected. the gambling is like a locals spot. which means more winning. i cant say enough about this place. try it
Posted by: tena at May 15, 2006 4:45 AMI stayed at the Tropicana Hotel couple years ago. Its nothing to brag about. Its at the end of the strip and it is quit a walk to go to Ceasers. If your not into high class stuff and looking for decient rooms for a cheap price this is the place to go.
Posted by: fe at May 15, 2006 3:12 PMMy wife and I stayed at the Riviera for a weeks vacation. After checking into the room we went down to the pool for a couple of hours. when we returned, we discovered our room was broken into and cash and jewelery was taken. The worst part was the hotel reaction, "report it to your home insurance"(which we didnt have) they also tried to pursuade us not to contact the police! They didnt even offer any kind of comp. to offset this b.s. Ive never set a foot in the place since.
Posted by: s.m. at May 15, 2006 5:21 PMMy Husband and I own at POLO TOWERS on the Strip. We go to Vegas 2 or 3 times a year,. 1 week at the time share, and we spend all the other times at various Hotels up and down the strip. I can NOT believe the complaining about the "RIV".It is definately OLD VEGAS, but we have found it confortable, always WIN there, the floor workers are second to none!! Of course The Boardwalk, now gone, was the most Special Casino on the strip. One day last OCT., we sat down at a machine, within minutes we were greeted by the Casino Host bearing a box of candy and a welcome, calling us by our name. THATS A COMP>!!! Too bad MGM bought it to knock it down. Stay away from any Hotel down town, off The Freemont Experience. Drugs and Hookers. Don`t let the cheap rates fool you.Go and see all the COMEDIANS you can. They are FRESH to the BIZ, and if you enjoy comedy, they are the up and commers.Take the time to go to the RIO. LL U CAN SEAFOOD BUFFET! It great. App. 35.00 per adult, worth every cent.Free show while you stand in line. LOOK UP!! We Love Vegas, can you tell? Ther are cheap flights, take the time to research.Get a Comp card frome where ever you visit, get on their mailing list, EVERYONE has unbelievable room rates at different times thru out the year.Get frequent flier miles to add up, we fly first class on one leg of every trip FOR FREE UPGRADE using them.Vegas can be very cheap if you learn the in`s and out`s.
