Crater of Diamonds State Park in the news again
Apparently Crater of Diamonds State Park yields so many stones that one man was able to make a living from selling the diamonds he found there. He now has a job in a convenience store, but after finding a 4.38 carat diamond I wonder how good that job looks.
I really want to look for gold or diamonds or something on one of my upcoming vacations. Imagine coming back from vacation richer than when you left...

My husband and I went to the Crater of Dimonds state park last spring, we dident find any thing valuble but we had a great time looking.
Posted by: haley at November 8, 2007 9:03 PMWow.....imagine how absolutely dissapointed you will be when you spend your hard earned money to fly or pay for gas to drive to this cool vacation spot.....your hotel expenses....your food expenses....chasing a dream in the hot sun....getting filthy dirty......to come up with that possible but improbable rock!
So one guy out of how many have found a stone worth the expense and time to persue it?
So this area has been bled out by a mining company.....that is why it is a crater.......and the few that are left behind are not cost effective enough to persue any longer.......by a company that has experienced people in that field for a living.....
So you might find the one that they missed?
So does that guy that found the "big one", have anything to do with the marketing of this place to tourists? Is he a part owner? Is there a charge to do this? Does he get a cut? Do you even know any of this is true?
I think I'd be pretty dissapointed after spending all that money to get there.....the cost of hanging out there.....then the expense to get back, when I come back empty handed would be quite a downer. Or the other scenario....come back with some little stone chips that cost more then they are worth, to have a ring, necklace or ear rings made from them.....so you look at them in your jewlry box and think about how one day they will be more valuable and worth the cost of paying someone to design you a setting and make it worth the cost of having it made into something.
Well good luck with that! Definately not something I would think was worth the expense. But....some people gamble too......chasing that "BIG WIN" and spending a horrific amount of money trying to accomplish it!
