You don't have to travel far when you take a vacation day
We've seen numerous articles about how Americans don't use their vacation days despite the fact that many of us get far too few (as an educator I do get good vacation time) and I've even blogged about it before because it's important.
Anyway, for those of you with vacation days you haven't used, this article offers what I think is a clever idea. Go shopping. Who says you can only take vacation days when you're going to Europe or Hawaii?

I agree!!! Some vacation days for me are visiting my local bookstore and having a nice cup of coffee at the cafe, finding a quiet place to sit and flip through different books I may or may not buy.. Its so relaxing and for the most part quiet. Its a great way to unwind!

Posted by: Sharyn at December 16, 2007 6:36 PMWhat? Not use a vacation day! Please! There will never be a time when I don't make use of my vacation days. In my profession, I get 3 personal days, 15 sick days, and 10 weeks of vacation time. While I will never abuse my sick time, I make use of my personal days every year. I, too, am an educator, so my vacation days are set in stone and I love it. I just returned from a two-week educational trip to Egypt, so I have no personal days left. Life, after all, is short-live it while you can!
