Tibet travel warning
When tourists and locals need to be rescued from burning banks, schools, hospitals, and supermarkets, you know it's time for a travel warning. And despite international exposure due to the Beijing Olympics I think the Chinese will use excessive force as they try to stop the riots. How else can you stop a riot?
A few months ago Tibet got a mention as a place where people might want to avoid for moral reasons. Now there are safety reasons for the rest of us.

My family and I visited. Myanmar because we had a son who went there to be ordained as a Buddhist monk. There was a certain sayadaw there who he held in very high esteem because of his pure teachings. We thought about the government of Myanmar and its corruption but we went anyway. I have never been sorry for my decision..in fact we went twice. We got to know the people of Burma(Myanmar). I cannot say enough about their friendliness, helpfulness and generosity and compassion. If we hadn't gone, Burma would have been just another place on the map. Now, if there is a way I can help the Burmese, I will. I keep in touch with a few of them. If there is a movement or a person to vote for who has a world view, I will check my ballot for such a person. The Burmese were happy to see us and learn about Americans and our freedom. Isolation never solves a problem. I know some of the money we spent found its way to government pockets but lots of it went into the local economy. I know we made the right choice to see for ourselves the country and people of Burma. Heaven help us if we become so intraverted and self-righteous that we can only show interest in places like Europe and Disney land.
