One & Only Ocean Club Bahamas: how is it?

If you want to see celebrities on vacation, one possibility might be the One & Only Ocean Club in the Bahamas on Paradise Island. I'm told that it was featured in the opening scene of Casino Royale and that Julia Roberts and Clive Owen shot scenes of Duplicity there. Robert Deniro supposedly rented out the entire hotel for his son's wedding.

Even this place gets mixed reviews, however. Has anyone been there? How was the service? Any celebrity sightings?

By the way, I would have linked to the official site, but One & Only (funny name for a chain, isn't it?) has an annoying flash website so I can't link directly to the Bahamas resort.

We stayed there during the filming of casino royal and it was fun to see the filming, but inconvenient to the regular guests since a lot of the public places were closed. It was very nice, however, there are many nicer places in the Caribbean. It is very close (a shuttle ride away) to the Atlantis which is an uber-commercial giant resort. And the airport is a nightmare....

Did not stay at the club but do want to comment on Atlantis where I did stay. It is a wonderful place for a family vacation. Very kid friendly with activities that adults can enjoy with the kids.

My only complaint is the food was not good. We tried different restaurants every day and twice took a cab to try to find a good meal away from the resort. Never happened.

I did not stay there but went with a group for drinks and dinner. The place was very private low key but elegant. I had the best meal I have ever had sitting on a deck at the beach. It has been 2 years ago but til today I can remember how perfect the food was they served.

Well, I spent 5 days at the Ocean Club and people had to pry me off the beach, out of the water and away from my private little villa with it's own little jacuzzi. Let me tell you... The water was the most beautiful I have ever seen. The giant double-wide hammocks on the beach were more than tempting. Food? I had awesome meals at Greycliff (Momma Mia, the best caviar I have ever tasted) and La Bohemian Club. Celebrities? Well, while at The Bohemian Club, Pavarotti burst in song. I felt his song "to the bone", a great gift. While I live in the EU, now, I keep striving to go back to this historical hotel, with Howard Hughes images in my head. One day I will. GO for it, you won't regret.

By the way. Does anybody know if there are still little villas on the beach, 2 bedroom ones. Also, is there still a nice man there, on the beach, grilling chicken with yummy sauce? Things change when they take on new management and have makeovers. One other thing... Is the beach place beside Ocean Club still Ronald Reagan's? If you were facing the sea, on the beach and at the far right edge of the property...there.
