Hello from the Norwegian Pearl

Well my vacation continues. It seems that 3 days in Seattle is about right. Someone said they were surprised that I was having fun in Seattle because it's not known as a tourist destination with a lot of stuff to do. And when I talked to some locals they basically said that we had done everything a tourist had to do (Pioneer Square, Space Needle, Pike Place market).

We didn't do any museums although I wanted to try the music experience and the scifi one. My wife wasn't too interested and it was $18 to get in. We probably didn't have enough time to get our money's worth.

More soon - this expensive wifi on the ship is a huge pain in the butt...

Yes, I am wondering about the weather too, we are setting sail for an Alaskan 10 day cruise 9/14/08-9/24/08.

The EMP is cool if you're REALLY into guitars; otherwise, it's a little thin on content considering the cost. SciFi is included with EMP admission and is fairly skimpy. The Boeing museum is worth checking out though, just for the WWII exhibit alone. And Fremont's Troll is neat to see.

Well we left on Sunday and return on Sunday so it must be 7 nights. As for the weather, it's cold. Like 45 and raining in Juneau or 55 and sunny in Skagway. In September I'm guessing you will freeze if you do not bring lots of layers and a nice winter jacket.

I noticed on the White Pass railroad yesterday that many people are not dressed for the weather and they miss out as a result. I spent nearly all 3 hours of the train ride on the observation platform. I was wearing a t-shirt, fleece, sweater, and light winter jacket. I was cold but when I tried sitting inside I started falling asleep. I'm sure I had a much better time since I was able to hang out outside.

So when you go to Alaska bring warm clothes. Stay outside and take in the nature!

Even in the few minutes it took me to write this comment the wifi disconnected me...
