Know any good adult only resorts in Mexico?

I have a big pile of papers to read for various classes so for today let me ask you to do all the work by answering this question from Cathy:

I have your site on my yahoo home page and frequently read the articles. I am looking for suggestions for an adult only resort in Mexico for our 10th anniversary. We have traveled to Mexico a few times and have stayed at Spa Palace twice. We are looking for a different resort of the same quality. Any and all suggestions are wonderfully welcome. Thank you so much.

The Royal Hideaway is a far better choice! Much more upscale, and adults-only. And usually priced comparably.

  2. Sarah says:

The Quinta Maria Cortez resort in Puerto Vallarata is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. I would recommend it highly.

Secrets Resorts are adults-only and also a great choice!

Aventura Spa Palace is a very nice, all-inclusive, adult’s only destination, with excellent food. This is where my wife and I honeymooned 2 years ago. Aventura is located 45min-1hr south of Cancun, near Playa Del Carmen (which is a cheap cab fare away). This means there’s not much city life around, which is nice in my opinion. Also, if you take any day trips (horseback riding, Mayan ruins, fishing, etc) there will be kids there. This includes any hotel sponsored trips, as they lump all the Palace resorts together on those activities (which are contracted out to a 3rd party company). We booked our trip through Worry-Free vacations which takes great pains to keep you out of a timeshare trap. If I have one complaint about this resort it’s that the beaches are a little small and are not natural, like those up near Cancun. They’ve built up a manmade beach and imported sand, which is still nice, but not the expansive all sand beaches elsewhere.

I agree with Linda. We stayed at the Royal Hideaway for our honeymoon and it was awesome. No kids, no fuss, and you don’t have to wear a tacky armband even though it’s all inclusive! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Plus, my parents went there for their 35th anniversary after we suggested it. They loved it too. It is perfect for any adults who want a romantic get away!

Royal Porta Real in Playa Del Carmen. Very, very nice with EXCELLENT food. Very romantic and staff is very friendly. Downside: Beach is top optional (husband liked it though) and, of course, the normal timeshare push that seems so prevelant in Mexico anymore. The rack of Lamb there is an absolute must.

Another choice in Puerto Vallarta: La Jolla De Mismaloya pretty secluded and very nice but a few minute bus ride to town. Located near where they filmed “Night of the Iguana”.

My wife and I stayed at the Karisma brand’s El Dorado Royale in the Riviera Maya in June 2007 for our honeymoon and would highly recommend it.

Pros: Gourmet inclusive. Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten… anywhere. Super helpful and friendly staff. Carefree (i.e. topless) attitude common around the resort. Close to great Mayan Ruins sites for those looking to adventure. Swim up suites and casitas. We could get from the hot tub in the room to the main pool bar with our feet barely ever touching the floor… like a small canal connecting each room to the main pool and bar.

Cons: It rained more than I expected during our 12 days there but that was no one’s fault. The beach leaves much to be desired and the view of the break water whales was disappointing… especially when the naked guy chose to sunbathe on his back on them…

  9. Beth says:

    On the whales?

El Dorado Royale is where my husband and I spent our 10 year aniversary and would highly reccomend it!

    What about middle-age singles?

I have known charlisangels exotic vacations resort in the Caribbean to be a great resort for singles and couples at all inclusive.

    Thanks, Sean.

Questions? With Mexico being infected with swine Flu what are other places can anyone refer me to for great RNR? I’ve read somewhere about this all inclusive resort called charlisangels erotic vacations resort with European and Russian escorts, what can anyone here tell me about it? Thanks.
